For married couples, keeping affairs private from the other spouse is increasingly difficult. Technology has made everything convenient. Transactions are easily monitored and recorded, facilitating transparency in conducting business and personal affairs. Privacy is starting to become a commodity difficult to protect
What used to be science fiction is now present technology. Current developments in the android phone allow monitoring of physical presence at any specific geographical location. If turning off the lights were enough to cover what happens in the dark, cheating hearts won’t have a hard time making alibis.
Infidelity is now easy to track.
Love in the shadows
When the need to hide traces of encounters becomes necessary, communications between lovers become risky. Meeting in the shadows and in deserted street corners eventually become impossible and resort to technology may eventually be had even against better judgment. How many affairs have been discovered due to an inadvertent call or a carelessly exposed letter?
Cutting communications altogether may appear unnecessary if both the cheating parties share common friends. What is important is being able to filter and keep sensitive messages and calls private so it wouldn’t arouse suspicion. General Petraeus had the right idea in keeping communications discrete but he wasn’t banking on the FBI snooping on his e-mails.
For the cheating spouse, being able to set dates with your lover is essential to maintain the illicit relationship. Desperate love can have many things to hide and hiding is infidelity’s illegitimate son.
Creating the smoke screen
Depending on your phone, security features on how to protect the privacy of your messages differ.
Analog and digital phones are already obsolete. Most phones of this class only required the basic PIN code to unlock the phone. Once the code is provided, access to the messages and call logs may be available. If you are still keeping this phone, you know it is difficult to hide messages. Once your password is known, access to details in your phone is possible. The prudent way is to delete your SMS messages and clear your phone logs of any traces.
The Android phone is the current standard phone in the market. There are many brands in the market and each with their own unique system.
One popular method of keeping your messages private is to create a private box for your messages and lock it with a password. Once the designated message is moved to the private folder, it cannot be accessed unless the password is provided.
For iPhone users, hiding incriminating messages may prove difficult. Apple has not allowed any apps to facilitate this feature. Unless you jailbreak your phone, you cannot avail of apps that are designed to hide SMS texts from prying eyes. The basic feature of the phone, however, allows for a basic 4 digit password that prevents others from checking on your messages. If the 4 digit password is not good enough for you, a more personalized password can be had by going to “Settings”, and choosing “General”. Click Pass lock and turn off the simple pass code, this allows you to type another password that can be as long as you like.
Another option is to go to Settings and choose notifications. Choose Messages and the Alert Style Conversation Box appears. Choose none and then scroll down to “Show preview” and turn that off. Scroll down further to “view in lock screen” and turn that off too. Turn off text tone and there will practically be no noise or message pop up that will indicate that you have received a text message.
Turning off pop up alerts for every text message that comes is an effective way of keeping others from knowing that you just received a text message.
For iPhones that have been jail-broken, apps like BossPrefs, Poof and iBlacklist can hide calls and messages effectively. Simply install these apps on your phone and you are good to go.
Other android phones can also use the basic password lock available in the security feature but having apps that effectively hide SMS texts can protect your privacy in a much better way.
The edge of town
Planning the tryst can be a challenge at first. (And you wonder how motels at very inconvenient locations does a thriving business every Valentine’s Day.)
Once you get the hang of keeping your communications private, covering your tracks will put you one step ahead of prying eyes. Planning dates without worrying about getting caught is an art many serial cheater perfect. Eventually, everything will be second nature and by this time you would probably need to go to therapy.
